The LuWOW Lodge is a Tiki hideaway holiday home located in Coolum Beach in Queensland’s Sunshine Coast: the Hawaii of Australia! Tucked away in a lush rainforest on top of a cliff, it has sea views through the treetop canopy and an abundance of bird and wildlife

 

At the heart of the lodge is an exquisite fresh water lagoon pool, heated during the cooler months and cooled in the hotter ones. It features a light up ‘grotto’ spa hidden behind a Tiki waterfall, stepping stones, an iridescent beach, and a thrilling plunge slide.

The LuWOW Lodge has a ‘volcanic’ open plan kitchen featuring a light-up carved canoe and houses an awesome collection of Tiki mugs and puffer fish. Enjoy a Mai-Tai amidst the jungle canopy and dine on our treetop verandah listening to parrots & cockatoos with the sea breeze in your hair. Evenings in can be spent in The LuWOW Lounge enjoying your favourite exotica music and watching retro B-movies.

The Designers and Décor

 

The LuWOW Lodge has been created by Josh ‘Sinbad’ Collins and Barbara Blaze primarily for their own private retreat, however they have opened up the doors for select clientele who appreciate the escapist appeal of mid-century Tiki culture. Josh and Barbara are very active on the retro Tiki Mid-century Rock & Roll scene and have designed and created many spaces, bars and events around the world. Spaces: The LuWOW, Hula Bula Bar, Devilles Pad(Australia), South London Pacific, Intoxica Records(UK), Tiki’s(Belgium) Events: Las Vegas Grind(USA), The Wild Weekend(Spain), Frat Shack(UK) The LuWOW Pop-up(Australia).

The Lodge houses many original Tiki features salvaged from the legendary LuWOW Lounge bar in Melbourne as well as an astounding collection of individually carved and created features specifically designed for this unique mini tropical resort. It is a timber and bamboo lux treehouse packed to the rafters with Tiki masks and Exotic paraphernalia.

Tropical Rooms and Suites

 

The LuWOW Lodge has 2 master suites, the Mai-Hai Suite and the Safari Suite Suite each with it’s own ensuite bathrooms, a private balcony and separate entrances, perfect for couples wanting a bit more privacy from the rest of the house.

The Lagoon Room is a queensize bedroom with direct pool access and The Cabin has 3 singles and fun nautical décor. These both share the Jungle Bathroom which has a large shower, rock basin and views across the jungle canopy.

The LuWOW Lodge is a uniquely fantastic secluded vacation for small groups and perfect for a

romantic getaway for couples. For smaller groups and couples we can offer just the Mai-Hai Suite, Lagoon Room & Cabin at a reduced rate. The entire Lodge can sleep upto nine people.

The Location: Coolum Beach

 

The LuWOW Lodge is only 10 minutes walk down the hill to a spectacular sandy surf beach with rocky coves, perfect for lazing beneath the pandanus trees and fantastic for boogie boarding and surfing. There are river beaches a short drive away at Maroochydore and the local boat and seaplane tours are great fun.

 

Coolum Beach township is 15 mins walk away or a 5 minute drive and has plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, surf boutiques and sandy beaches. It is home to the Coolum Surf Lifesaving Club which has an award winning restaurant, bar and grill. It does an amazing breakfast at weekends.

World famous Noosa is less than half an hour away with it’s awesome National Park and out of this world surfing waves as well as plenty of restaurants, shopping and cinemas.

Nearby are many impressive walks: the Glasshouse Mountains (massive granite extinct volcanoes) and Mt Coolum, the 2nd largest rock in Australia after Uluru. Also lush rainforest walks with fantastic tropical swimming holes below spectacular waterfalls: Serenity Falls amongst many many others.

The hinterland is full of surprizing bric-a-brac antique shops and second hand markets and even a good record shop or two. Don’t miss a good cheap feed at the Yandina Bakery.

The local produce from the farmers markets or roadside fruit and veg stalls is always good and easy on the pocket, perfect for making those all-important fresh fruit Tiki cocktails. The LuWOW Lodge has a recommended selection of Tiki cocktail recipes for inspiration.

Spot the local wildlife including bush turkeys, dragons, goanas, tree frogs, possums, giant stick insects, you might even spot a dreaded cane toad. An amazing bird population means a spectacular dawn chorus. Stingrays and turtles are regular visitors to the local beach coves and in season you can spot migrating humpback whales from the cliff tops.

How to get there

 

This awesome slice of Tiki paradise is located just 15 minutes from Maroochydore Sunshine Coast airport, only 2.5 hours flying from Melbourne and Adelaide, 1.5 hours from Sydney and direct flights from Auckland NZ. It is only a 90 minute drive from Brisbane CBD.
