Hollywood Regency is a beautiful elegant style, sometimes referred too as Regency Moderne & Modern Baroque. Born in the period of the Hollywood movie making machine, approx around the time from the 1920’s to 1960’s.
It boasts vibrant colour combinations, such as chartreuse & turquoise, dull whites, shiny black, strong greens deep reds & blues. The colours would often contrast against glamorous and elegant metallic, and glass furnishings.
Dorothy Draper, who created America’s 1st interior design business, is most known for this opulent style. See some of her fabulous designs above in this article by her company.
Dorothy was most known for designing, and adding glamour and opulence to fabulous grand landmark Hotels, and of course she had many other styles of clients. Of course being such an incredibly talented designer, Dorothy had her own Newspaper column, designed for Casino’s, and even designed home interiors.
One famous design from Dorothy Draper, which became her trademark is the glorious cabbage rose chintz design.
Dorothy also was also a writer and wrote a design book for the every day house hold in 1941, called, Entertaining is Fun! How to Be a Popular Hostess, and it was reissued in 2004. (ISBN 0-8478-2619-8)

Carleton Varney took over Dorothy Draper Co in the late 60’s, an amazing designer in his own right, with his flamboyant, graceful beautiful style, bringing the company too new and fabulous heights.
Carlton also has his own personal company website on top Carleton Varney , which I have to say has a beautiful selection of goodies, homeware, jewellery clothing and much more.
I have to say his Brazilliance pattern is just sheer beauty.
